COURSES and WORKSHOPS

Beginners Camera Course

KPS runs several Beginners Camera Courses during the year. Each course runs for 5 weeks on a Saturday afternoon from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Cost is $150 per person or $250 for a couple. Put your name down early if you are interested as courses fill up quickly. Contact the Secretary or Rob Sloane for more information.

The Beginners course is aimed at the complete novice, irrespective of the type of camera you have.

This course is designed to:

Introduce the basics of photography with emphasis on digital cameras
Help you get you comfortable with using your camera
Show how to get the best out of your camera
Introduce some basic techniques to help improve your photography
Show how to get the most out of your images for video display and printing

Advanced Camera Course

The advanced course is for those who have a little more than basic experience with photography. It is not a pre-requisite, but you should have a reasonably good idea of what the functions and features of your camera can do, even if you have never used them.

The course is designed to:

Show how to use more advanced camera and shooting techniques
Explain what makes a good photograph
Introduce ‘seeing creatively’
Teach the techniques for taking photographs of children, scenery, sporting events, portraits and shooting in low light or at night.

Workshops

The club runs several workshops during the year for beginners as well as master classes for the more advanced which are subsidised up to 50% by the club.

Certain members of KPS are available on request to to deliver seminars, workshops and short talks on such topics as digital photography, how to use a camera, how to take good pictures, printing your pictures at home or at a minilab, how to get consistantly good pictures, wedding photography, portrait photography, landscape photography, making AV's (audio visual's - slide shows with sound), use of the latest (and usually inexpensive) tools, or other photography related topics.

If your organisation would like a KPS person to present a talk to your gathering, whether it be a club, senior citizens group, library, or simply a collection of interested people brought together for such a talk, call the president as listed on the Contact page.
